Massage

Maura's awesome. Between playing sports and working a desk job, I deal with tons of muscle strain and tension, but Maura can work magic in just one or 2 sessions. Her use of deep pressure is very effective without being painful like some massages I've had, and she is incredible at pinpointing and relieving my muscle spasms with a combination of stretches and bodywork that feel great both during and after the massage. I feel comfortable on her table and completely confident that I'm in good hands.

Adam is a highly gifted massage therapist.  I have a very physically demanding job and suffer from chronic neck and shoulder tension as well as the occasional low back pain.  Adam is very strong and gives a deep, focused session.  He somehow always knows how to find the spots that hurt and he also finds new spots that I didn't even knew were hurting that somehow help to make the pain go away.  He is also extremely professional and puts me at ease.  I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great massage.

When I first came to see Sarah, I was in so much pain that I could barely walk! I was 29 and I could bend to touch my knees, but I couldn’t get anywhere close to my toes! Over the course of several sessions, Sarah opened up my right hip dramatically. She expertly found and ‘untied’ my deepest knots. She was always extremely professional and even took the time to show me several stretches that I now incorporate into my daily routine. Now, not only can I touch my toes, but I can walk again! Most importantly, I am pain-free!!! I am forever indebted to Sarah Tufano and would recommend her services to everyone and anyone!!! She is THE BEST!!!

Adam has been my massage therapist for three years. I started getting massages after I had back surgery and Adam is the best therapist I have had. Some therapists give a gentle massage that is relaxing, but doesn't do much for physical ailments. Others think they can't give a good massage without causing pain. Although Adam is very strong, he is able to use just enough pressure to give you the relief you need. I strongly recommend Adam as a massage therapist.

Maura is very attentive - always sure to ask if her methods are suiting my needs. I love how she is open to trying new methods that she has learned in order to provide the most effective massage. I always leave thinking "Wow. That is just what I needed!" And I can really feel the difference her massages provide!

Over the years, I have been to many massage therapists, but none have responded with the combination of instinct, knowledge and magic touch that Sarah Tufano has. I walked in the door in pain and unable to turn my neck, but left with incredible relief. I work at a computer daily and in only one hour Sarah was able to bring release to muscles that have not loosened for years. She has the ability to zone in on your body’s most vulnerable points. Besides being the dedicated professional, she is a warm and caring person. I highly recommend her massage abilities.

I have been seeing Adam for a couple of years. He is an excellent massage therapist. I have chronic neck and shoulder stress-related pain. Adam gives an excellent deep tissue massage. He responds well to requests to work on specific areas and recommends stretches to prevent pain in the future. I have had massages from many different therapists in the past and I would highly recommend Adam to anyone looking for a great massage.

Sarah Tufano is my incredible massage therapist.  Years of playing lacrosse produced some tremendous knots in my back resulting in chronic muscle pain and tension.  I have been to two different physical therapists and one other massage therapist with no improvement.  After a few sessions with Sarah T, I feel like a whole new woman.  All the pain and tension is gone.  I didn't know my back was supposed to feel this way. Sarah Tufano's work warrants the praise and I cannot recommend her highly enough.  She is professional, knowledgeable, and strong.

Maura is by far the best massage therapist I have seen. In particular, she is great at listening to and responding to my unique needs. I've seen her for an especially troublesome and painful shoulder muscle issue that would not respond to other treatments (Advil, ice, heat, etc.). After an hour of work, Maura had significantly eased the pain in my shoulder and had me back on the playing field the very next day! I highly recommend her.

I highly recommend Adam. When traveling, a soft bed kind of ruined my neck and when I woke up the next morning it hurt to turn my head. This never went away so that after six weeks I finally decided I had to do something. By then, it was a highly urgent matter... When I called, Sarah was able to squeeze me in the same day. Adam did an awesome job with the massage and it was very clear that he knew what he was doing. He targeted the right muscles with just the right amount of pressure. And actually, just that one massage cured me from the neck ache that I had had for six weeks! It is hard to find a good massage therapist, and so it's very sad that we will be moving away from Boston soon because Adam is someone to whom I'd go back anytime. Oh, and they also sent me a handwritten card and a coupon by mail a couple days ago. Highly recommended!

Sarah’s therapeutic touch has been a very strong source of healing for me. She has worked with me to drastically improve a ten-year-old problem in my neck and an ergonomic issue in my arm. Her technique is not only physical massage (which is fabulous deep-tissue work), but she also takes the time to answer all my questions about the science behind my injuries and what I can do on my own to heal faster. Her work is truly therapeutic.

Sarah has been my masseuse since March of this year. I have received professional massages from about 4 other masseuses and Sarah is the best so far! In addition to having terrific massage skills including the ability to work really deep (she is very strong but also has a gentle touch!) at the start of each session she always asks about how I am feeling and tailors the massage to suit. She is totally professional and reliable! She is a vivacious and genuinely nice person who really cares about her clients’ physical and mental well-being. Plus she is an educated person who has world travel experience and many interests. I always look forward to each session with her and recommend her wholeheartedly!

I've been familiar with Maura Driscoll's skill as a massage therapist since before her graduation from the Massage Therapy Institute in Cambridge, MA. Since then, I've noticed her skills increase substantially. Her solid knowledge of physiology, love of sports and her complementary career as physical trainer, makes her a great match for any athlete looking for help with preparation or recovery. Maura's technique and use of leverage are bolstered by her strength which allows her to work deeper than most other therapists. In the last few years, I've noticed that her knowledge of deep technique as well as pressure points and other massage disciplines has made her a much more well-rounded therapist. I look forward to having her work on me in the future.

I first met Sarah at a Relay for Life in San Leandro where she was volunteering her time and energies to provide therapeutic massage to cancer survivors as we walked for the cause. I was truly amazed at the immediate and sustained relief she provided in a brief session which sold me on making regular visits. She’s warm, knowledgeable, and honestly caring about her clients. I would highly recommend her services to anyone that is seeking relief and understanding of their condition(s).
-P.S.

My very first massage was with Sarah, and though I was anxious and nervous about having anyone work on my body, she immediately calmed any anxiety about massage therapy by being very open with questions and answers and working within my comfort zone. I’m so glad, because it is such a tremendous relief to be able to relax and let her work the muscles. As a professional dancer, I push my body every day to stretch and control to the fullest extent. Every time it’s a different area that hurts, and Sarah is wonderful at focusing her energy on the areas in pain and helping them heal. It’s been a real blessing to both my personal comfort and to my career to have as truly a professional therapist as Sarah. My body and I say thank you!

I used to go to Boston Body Worker and thought they were good....Until they canceled a massage on me the week before I was going to run a marathon! And they could not get me in until it was too late. In the long run I am soooo glad this happened, as I found Massage Therapy of Boston! The first time Sarah worked on me, I immediately felt better, and knew I was in good hands. I recently came in and saw Maura, who is new to Massage Therapy of Boston. She is just as good as Sarah!!! My knee has been popping for 4 months due to a muscle imbalance from running. I have tried self physical therapy and stretching but nothing seemed to work. I went to Maura, and two days later the popping stopped!!!! I am sooooo happy. It was just what I needed to loosen up my hips and IT bands to center my knee cap again. I fully recommend this establishment!!!

I started seeing Sarah T. because I was experiencing a lot of pain through my right shoulder and arm to the wrist. I had never had regular, therapeutic massages before but even after the first visit I knew Sarah would be able to massage away the pain. I started seeing Sarah every two weeks, in order to really work out my problem areas, and after only a few visits she has me balanced and healthy again. Sarah listens to where my problem areas are and works only on those areas until they are not problems any more. Sarah also suggested some stretching exercises so that in between visits I could still get some relief from the pain I was experiencing. I’m a huge fan and can’t thank Sarah enough for helping me get my body back into the shape it should be. Now I feel great and I owe it all to Sarah T!
-S.M.

Sarah’s fabulous deep-tissue work has dramatically made a difference in my ten-year-old neck problem. And now with my current ankle surgery, she has helped me tremendously in taking out scar tissue and helping the muscles surrounding the area to help support the ankle as well. I can totally rely on Sarah’s ability to make me feel better and extremely relaxed!

Infant Massage
Sarah teaches infant massage in a way that helps even the most exhausted parent learn a simple, loving activity that is soothing and fun for my baby!  I love the way Sarah combines the massage techniques with fun songs and interactions with the baby - it was enjoyable to learn and has now become a great daily activity for us at home!
-C.C.

It was a great feeling to learn how to touch my baby in a way that she loved and that made her feel relaxed (and sleep better too!).  I learned she really likes to be massaged and that when I ask her in the beginning, she can clearly communicate whether she wants a massage (by a big smile) or not (looking away or making fussy noise).  I am so thankful for this experience!  I feel an even stronger bond with both my children (my toddler too) because of learning how to massage them.  To me, there is nothing more important and worthwhile than that.
-A.P.

The more attention and touch I give to Lucy during the day, the less she needs me at night to soothe her.  Lucy is sleeping through the night, and is pretty easy to put to bed now!!  Sarah didn't mind if we needed to get up to walk around, modify certain strokes, or stop to feed/soothe our babies.  Sarah is very approachable, knowledgeable, and professional.
-M.H.

I learned that I need to slow down and really look and listen to my baby's needs.  Also, I learned about the importance of touch and permission to touch.  Sarah has a calm, pleasant demeanor and is flexible when it comes to meeting the mood and behavior of the baby.
-L.R.

Sarah has a gentle speaking voice, is adaptable, and gives lots of examples and positive reassurances.  It was nice to see parents in different situations, different developmental stages and the techniques are calming for our baby.
-L.M.

Sarah helped us remember the strokes and took her time to go over each step with both parents to ensure understanding.  This was a wonderful experience to share with my family!
-K.M.

Sarah is a natural with children.  She is very accommodating; I never felt rushed or judged-she is very encouraging.  Sarah has a good sense of humor.  I felt comfortable from the moment I met her.
-A.P.

Sarah is excellent.  She is very good at teaching massage and making the class feel comfortable and have fun while learning massage.
